A little while ago, I was laid off from a job that I kind of liked. I made a big deal about not getting another construction type job, so I wouldn't go through all these lay offs, when work slowed down.
It didn't take two weeks, before I reminded myself that unemployment is not for me, so I went back too full time work, at a C store. Pay is pretty good and it allows me to look for a job in the mornings, and work at night. And who knows that I just might get a C store of my own some day. If not to own, at least to manage.
Going through the interview process, has reminded me of a lesson I learned long ago. When looking for a sales job, there are two types of jobs. One you have a passion for the product, and the other you have a passion for money.
In my younger years, I thought that I had a Love for money, but The older I get, the more I can see, that in my case, it doesn't take as much money to make me happy, as it does many other people.
Let me tell you about my of my "learning moment", that any one can use as a test, to see if you really love money, or just want enough too bless your family and people around you, who are in need.
I was sitting in an interview, with a man who sold a lot of life insurance, who told me his secret. "If you want to become rich in this business, here is what you have to do" he said " you need to get the husband and wife, together in the living room, and then you need too paint a picture of the husband, dead in a coffin, sitting on the coffee table". "Now back the hearst up to the front door and have the wife wave good by to her husband and his income, and you will sell a policy every time".
Now unless you have a passion for life insurance, those words will bother you, unless you have a passion for money.
Just don't assume that you would choose the lower path, give it some thought and I think you will be surprised at how little passion you have for money. I know, I was.
Got to run, love Boyd
